Viking VCBB363 refrigerator not cooling, Repair – Freemont, CA

A customer had VCBB363 Viking refrigerator not cooling.  This unit is the side-by-side built-in model. This customer had one company in the past which replaced low voltage board and charged the client, but the problem was not resolved. Because of bad previous experience, he decided to choose the other company and called us for repair.

Apon arriving I had found the problem. The problem was the inverter board. Because of this part was not sending the power to the compressor. As a result, the compressor was not working. Also because not doing the maintenance for the fridge condenser fan motor failed. We offered same day repair to the customer because we usually keep those parts in stock. He gave us permission for the repair.

First I removed the top plastic panel to have access to the compressor compartment.

Second I uninstall metal box with low and high voltage board inside.

Third, I vacuumed all dust from the condenser coil and compressor compartment as a part of maintenance. For this procedure, I usually use the steamer. This will allow increased airflow and let the compressor working at the proper temperature.

Fourth, the condenser fan motor for this particular model is mounted on special panel with 3 brackets. You need to remove the whole panel first to be able to replace the fan motor. I replaced the defective condenser fan motor with the new one. After I install fan assembly back to its place.

Fifth, I disconnected the wiring from the defective inverter board and removed this part. The new inverter board does not come with wiring so I had to use old wiring in some cases. After swapping old wiring to the new inverter board I installed new inverter board assembly by the compressor. I had mounted it with 2 screws.

Finally, I had to put every component back to its place and test the system.

Another happy customer!
